Managing Overlap Zones
Monitor and prevent collisions
Overlap Zones are the areas in a user's farm where the coverage of one pivot intersects with another. These areas require careful management, and by defining overlap zones, users can monitor them closely and prevent collisions
How to navigate to Overlap Zones
The Overlap Zones section can be accessed via mobile and web, and both versions offer almost identical options to view and manage these zones.
-
On the web, a link is located on the main menu on the left side of the screen.
-
On mobile, a link is on the main menu that's accessed by tapping on the hamburger (three lines) button on the top left of the home screen.
Overlap Zones: Main Screen
The main Overlap Zones screen shows a list of all existing overlap zones. Every overlap zone consists of two pivots, so they are named by pairing both pivot's aliases, e.g.: "Pivot 1 <> Pivot 2". Additionally, there's a map view of all the existing overlap zones.
How to Create an Overlap Zone
-
On the Overlap Zones main screen, click the "+ Overlap Zone" button to get started.
-
You’ll be navigated to the “New Overlap Zone” screen. You’ll see two boxes with a “Select Pivot” option in them.
-
Click the "Select Pivot" button in the first box, then choose a pivot directly from the map by clicking on it. Alternatively, you can click on the "Search Pivot" option to open a popup and choose a pivot from your list of devices.
-
Once a pivot is assigned to the first box, enter the "From" and "To" angles at which the pivot enters the overlap zone. • Tip: Leave a buffer zone. We recommend making overlap zones larger than the actual collision danger area to provide an additional safety margin.
-
Repeat the same process for the second box.
-
Select at least one contact to receive alerts related to this overlap zone.
-
Click the "Select Contacts" dropdown to display a list of your account's contacts.
-
Select all contacts you want to receive alerts.
-
To add new contacts, click "Add Contact" and enter the contact information.
-
Optional: For additional security, check the "Auto-stop both pivots if they enter this zone at the same time" box.
-
Note: This option may be disabled if you have limited control permissions for one or both selected pivots. Only owners and users with "Full Control" access to the devices can enable this option.
-
Click "Save."
-
Read the liability agreement.
-
If you agree, click "I Agree."
-
Your overlap zone is now created and will appear on the Overlap Zones main screen.
How to Edit an Overlap Zone
-
Find the zone you want to edit on the Overlap Zones list.
-
On the web, click on the pencil icon.
-
On mobile, tap on the tree dots and on the right, and then click on “Edit”
-
You’ll be navigated to the Edit screen for that Overlap Zone.
-
Editing an existing overlap zone is very similar to creating a new one, you can change pivot angles, alert recipients and check or uncheck the "Auto-stop both pivots if they enter this zone at the same time" box. However, you cannot change the selected pivots on existing overlap zones.
-
If you have limited control permissions for one or both pivots in the overlap zone, you might not be able to edit some or all information.
-
Once you’re done with your changes, click "Save."
-
Read the liability agreement.
-
If you agree, click "I Agree."
-
Your overlap zone is now updated.
